TikTok focuses more and more on live streaming, which could soon become a formidable monetization tool as well. How? Thanks to a very small digital formula and 30 years ago on loan from the TV: the telesales.
According to popular website The Verge, TikTok wants to put live streams at the heart of its ecosystem, which could one day become more important in the social economy than short videos – now also widespread on Instagram and YouTube.
Live shopping content would play an important role in this transition. That’s right: the direct sale of products and services, complete with an influencer in the role of tele-barker of yesteryear. on Douyin, which is the version of TikTok distributed in China, live shopping has been a reality for many years – it would mean importing the model to the West as well. ByteDance has already conducted some initial tests in the UK, but achieved modest results.
The initiative to bring live teleshopping to TikTok is known internally as Project Aquaman. TikTok would partner with several content creation and e-commerce agencies as well. There are already 20 companies involved in the project to bring telesales to TikTok.
The first experiments will most likely start in the US, after which the model will also be exported to Europe.
