Verbatim has completed its portable SSD lineup with a special model. For example, data can only be written to Swava128G: it cannot be changed, renamed or deleted. This should make it ideal for storing all kinds of sensitive data, from business data to personal photos and videos.

As the name suggests, the external SSD has a capacity of 128 GB. To put data on disk, only relevant software supported by Windows 10 and 11 (except S and Arm variants) is required. Devices with other operating systems can only read data stored in exfat.

The Swava128G measures 46 x 108 x 9.5 millimeters and weighs 55 grams. It comes with both a USB 3.2 Gen 1 type-a to type-c cable and a cable with two type-c connectors. The manufacturer claims read speeds of 540 MB/s and write speeds of up to 180 MB/s. In addition, the SSD has a manufacturer’s warranty and a lifespan of ten years, provided that an operating temperature of no more than 55 °C is maintained.

Verbatim will debut the SSD in Japan. It is not clear when and at what price it will come to the European market.
