MakerBot and Ultimaker have announced a merger. The combination of American and Dutch 3D printing companies should accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing by offering a comprehensive ecosystem of 3D printing hardware, software and materials. The head offices of both Utrecht and New York will be preserved.

Despite being UltimakerBot, the new company doesn’t have an official name yet. obvious choice. The current CEOs of MakerBot and Ultimaker, Nadav Goshen and Jürgen von Hollen, will co-chair the merged company as co-CEO. Nadav will be in charge of operations management, while von Hollen will be in charge of the commercial arm.

The transaction is subject to the approval of the relevant employee representatives and officials. The merger is expected to be fully completed in the second or third quarter of this year.
