The new Smart Banding feature easily transforms these color bands into smooth transitions, keeping the rest of the photo detailed and sharp. Smart Deband improves the quality of images without losing compression capacity

That’s why Smart Band uses a new machine learning algorithm that converts these bands to gradient colors, improving image quality but preserving compression.

Smart Deband intelligently removes color distortions and increases the color depth of your photos to 16 bits per channel; this is equivalent to the color depth of a RAW image. While increasing the color depth alone is not a significant effect, it does make a difference when combined with removing color bands.
