Google plans to make the work of its search engine more attractive to a younger audience. The company is preparing to introduce a new look that integrates TikTok videos, social media posts, and AI-powered chatbot responses.
The corporation’s plans are reported by the WSJ, citing company documents and sources familiar with the matter. It is pointed out that Google wants to move away from the format of the so-called “10 blue links” and make the search engine more “visual, comfortable, personalized and human”.
Thus, the company wants to give users “more than answers” to requests, and helps, even “when there is no correct answer.”
When requested, videos and social media posts are supposed to show up in search results. For example, the answer to a question can also be presented in the TikTok video format.
New features that will allow users to interact with the AI program, codenamed Magi, are expected to be unveiled very soon at the Google I/O 2023 conference, which begins on May 10.
A spokeswoman for the corporation confirmed to the WSJ that Google is focusing on a long-term approach to changing the service, which includes integrating visual and artificial intelligence features.
