The popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp has taken a step forward. Its application for Android and iOS devices allows its users to share HD quality videos.

The ‘app’ owned by Meta has fulfilled its promise to offer its users an enhanced visual experience by extending this functionality to clips, after the option to send HD quality photos became available last week.

This feature has recently started rolling out and is already available for some users with the latest WhatsApp updates on the Google Play and App Store app stores.

The new feature allows people to choose between two options when sending videos. As with high resolution images, an icon at the top of the submission screen indicates the shot quality selection. This has been confirmed 9 to 5Mac.

By tapping the HD icon, users can choose between sending the standard quality video, which reduces the resolution to 476 x 848 to save space and transfer speed, or choosing the HD quality option, which sends the clip in 718 x 1,280 resolution. For a sharper, more detailed viewing experience.

WhatsApp emphasizes that although HD quality improves image clarity, the file is still compressed, albeit to a lesser extent than the standard option.

The addition of HD video quality complements the option to send high resolution images, providing a complete package for enhancing visual exchange across the platform.
