On the morning of Saturday, February 24, National Police sources confirmed to EL TIEMPO that they were first caught at a checkpoint. A minibus loaded with cocaine in the service of the National Protection Unit (UNP).

According to the source, the operation took place yesterday morning on the Pan-American Highway, at the point where the toll is highest in the Corozal de Caicedonia region of Valle del Cauca.

Uniformed teams of the Police Traffic Directorate inspected the truck. 65 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride were seized.
The drugs were camouflaged between the doors of the truck and covered with paper and plastic packages.
According to the police report, the protected person and two UNP officials were traveling in the truck.

This newspaper had obtained the procedure report, which stated that the vehicle was “a vehicle of the TXL line, branded Land Cruiser Prado, with license plate JDW-376 Bogotá.”
It is also stated that the truck is assigned to: “Security plan for protected person Arlez Porras Gómez (native of Tambo Cauca), who has been a Peace signatory since 2016, Known by his pseudonym Yesid Guevara or Cucaracho”.
On June 29, 2006, Porras was head of the 8th Front of the extinct Farc-EP, which had a record of being caught on terrorism charges.

The protected man was traveling with two UNP officials identified as Jorge Tulio Góngora Belalcázar and Dairo Herney Yandi Liponce: The three men were caught for drug trafficking.
The source told EL TIEMPO that those who were first caught said: “The cocaine was intended to be transported to the Cundinamarca region, ignoring connections and/or connections with criminal or armed structures.”“.
