According to the Ministry of Health, the prostate is a small gland in the male reproductive system. It is located below the bladder and in front of the rectum, surrounding the urethra. It is an essential organ for sexual, reproductive and urinary function, so all diseases that affect it have effects on these three levels. The prostate consists of a central area where prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is produced and a peripheral area from which more than 70% of tumors originate.

Prostate cancer is a malignant enlargement of the prostate gland. In advanced stages, cancer cells spread to distant sites via lymphatic and blood vessels with the ability to invade other organs.
