The spin-off of Yellowstone previously announced from the 1932 title, and which will instead be titled 1923 Central to the story are the early decades of the twentieth century, a period in the United States marked by such problems as drought, economic depression, and prohibition.

Set in mid-1883 and the original Yellowstone series, the 1923 TV series tells of one of the previous generations of the Dutton family. Recall that the show will feature two high-level actors such as Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as protagonists.

Tanya Giles of Paramount Streaming described the TV series as follows:

The grand storyline and great performances behind 1883 produced records for Paramount+. The introduction of the prequel series on Paramount Network along with the Yellowstone broadcast enabled the public to get to know this fantastic new project from Taylor Sheridan. We are projected into the future, thinking about what else we can offer fans of the Dutton family stories.

The show makes its debut on the streaming platform Paramount+. Recall that Kevin Costner stars in the main series and was released in 2018.
