Sandman is back, and this time the Eternos family is complete. This Thursday, in the middle of Netflix’s Geeked Week, the streaming service released a new video about how production on season 2 is progressing. Includes behind-the-scenes footage, cast and crew information. The full version of the video can be viewed on the Netflix YouTube channel.
For fans, this is confirmation that the comic book adaptation is no longer moving forward. The teaser also featured a brief synopsis Loki (Freddie Fox)as well as some new members of Los Eternos. Includes Esme Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny, and Barry Sloane as Prodigal Son. (aka Destruction).
While plot details are scarce, there seems to be little doubt that Sandman will adapt the Seasons of Mist and Brief Lives story arcs. To the relief of Sandman fans, the series about Morpheus’ (Tom Sturridge) journey may include characters Dead Boys Detectives, production that was cancelled after one season just a few weeks ago.
New faces in the endless family
“Each of these characters is as strong as Dream, almost as smart, and far more ruthless,” showrunner Allan Heinberg said in a statement when the casting was first announced. “Together, they will lure Dream/Morpheus into a web of palace intrigue, glamour, demonic battles, and spider sex. Dream/Morpheus isn’t ready for any of it; which will bring everything around him back into a more complex scenario.”
Sandman Based on the iconic DC Comics series by Neil Gaiman and artists Sam Kieth, Mike Dringenberg, Jill Thompson, Sean McManus, Mark Hempel, Brian Talbot and Michael Zulli, the series is a rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy, where contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend are seamlessly intertwined in a dramatic and inspiring story. The second season promises to not only delve into the scenarios already shown, but also into the realms of all the brothers and Hell itself, which we first learned about in the first part.
