Thor: Love and Thunder which premiered divided critics and audiences, and was also a big weekend hit. But as if that wasn’t enough also included new characters in the already expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe.. Hence, its appearance is similar to that of an anthropomorphic creature containing galaxies, planets, places, and layers of space. Apart from its obvious symbolism, it is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe.
Waititi abandoned the idea of a conscious version of Eternity. Instead, he showed the space that can be accessed thanks to Stormbreaker. According to the movie, this place is near Vormir, the home of the Soul Stone. As unique as it may seem, the realm of Eternity even resembles the inside of the Soul Stone. However, in the comic this cosmic being is much stronger than the gods. In fact, it is more than any other creature that has been featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In both the movie and the comic, Eternity is outside of time and space in Marvel space. Which suggests yet another unexplored area of the multiverse, although the movie doesn’t speculate on it or delve into that idea. Despite this, Eternity is shown very similar to comics: a being, or at least an image of it, that contains the universe. And also to how time and power are analyzed and deepened in Marvel.

Eternity first appeared in 1965 in Strange Tales #138. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in Strange, her first story is about Doctor Strange pleading for power to defeat Dormammu. Both of them are intelligent beings with considerable authority in the world of the House of Ideas. And although there are few stories in which they appear, they usually appear at moments of particular gravity. Just like the Celestials that were already featured in Guardians of the Galaxy and Eternals – and “Living Yard”. Together, they form a stripped-down comic book version of Titans and other primal creatures from several different mythologies.
Fun fact: every world in the Marvel multiverse has a version of Eternity as well as Infinity. This means that each universe is completely autonomous, created from the beginning, and has its own independent history. Traditionally, Eternity is directly connected with different heroes of the House of Ideas.
In fact, Eternity can bestow the title of Captain of the Universe, thereby establishing bonds with various beings. In the world of comics, from Spider-Man to Daredevil, from the Hulk to the Silver Surfer, they have carried the mantle of being bonding. This may indicate that perhaps in the medium term and in some aspects of the Multiverse, a being may be able to manifest itself in this way.
