Variety revealed that the pop star Cindy Lauper joins the cast of the Amazon series The horror of Dolores Roach. The series is based on a podcast and will consist of eight episodes in total. In addition to Cindy Lauper, other cast members have also been announced.
Justina Machado, Alejandro Hernandez, Kita Updike, K. Todd Freeman, Marc Maron, Jean Yoon, Judy Reyes and Jeffery Self will also appear in Horror of Dolores Roach. The project was produced by Blumhouse Television, Spotify Studios and GloNation Studios.
The protagonist of the story is Dolores Roach, a woman who is released from prison after 16 years, and who returns to live in a gentrified area of Washington, with only two hundred dollars available. Without her family, and with her missing boyfriend, Dolores will join her friend Luis (Hernandez), who will offer her hospitality. If everything seems to be going well, Dolores will find herself in an extreme situation, where the bond with Luis becomes symbiotic and is able to get her boyfriend to bring up his specific preferences.
In the series, Cindy Lauper plays Ruthie, the mask of a Broadway theater who can cause even more trouble for Dolores.
