STARZPLAY, STARZ’s international premium streaming service, today released the first images of the highly anticipated STARZ Original series Dangerous Relationshipsa daring reinterpretation of the novel of the same name: the series will premiere on the broadcaster on November 6.

Dangerous Liaisons is a daring prequel to Laclos’ classic novel, which features the two iconic protagonists, the Marquise de Merteuil and the Viscount de Valmont, and the early years of their relationship, when they were passionate young lovers in Paris on the eve of the Revolution. . This modern take on a literary classic offers audiences the chance to experience wonder and terror, beauty and decay, seduction and deceit in pre-revolutionary Paris. Driven by a thirst for revenge for past mistakes, we see them rise from the slums of Paris into the ranks of the French aristocracy, manipulating not only the nobility, but also each other, with the sole aim of survival. Alice Englert and Nicholas Denton play the infamous lovers: Camille, who is greeted by the previous Marquise de Merteuil (played by Lesley Manville) and Valmont, who will do everything in his power to regain the title taken from him. Their relationship, their take and break, is the heart of the series. It’s not love… it’s war.

The first footage shows Alice Englert, Nicholas Denton and Lesley Manville in their respective roles, along with Kosar Ali, who plays Victoire, Camille’s best friend and accomplice, and Carice Van Houten, (Game of Thrones) who plays Jacqueline de Montrachet, a devout noblewoman with a mysterious connection to Camille.

The series is produced for STARZ by Playground and Flame Ventures in association with Lionsgate Television. Written and created by Harriet Warner, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. In addition to Warner, Colin Callendar (Playground), Tony Krantz (Flame Ventures), Scott Huff, Bethan Jones and Christopher Hampton are executive producers. Barney Reisz is producer.
