25 years after his last director, the popular artist Johnny Depp he goes back to work behind the camera, and this time he does it for a film about the painter Amedeo Modiglianiwhich will be produced by the equally iconic Al Pacino.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the shooting of the Modigliani film, directed by Johnny Depp, will begin in Europe in the spring of 2023. This is a return to directing for Depp, after the actor directed the 1997 feature film Il Coraggioso, starring Marlon Brando.

Barry Navidi, who already worked on Il Mercate di Venezia (2004) starring Al Pacino himself, will also produce the film about Modigliani. Dennis McIntyre is working on the subject, for a screenplay by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski.

As reported, the synopsis of the Modigliani movie is as follows:

The Italian painter and sculptor, Amedeo Modigliani, experiences a commercial failure that will lead him to spend 48 hours defining his life.

It is not yet clear whether Johnny Depp will also wear the main character’s clothing.
