During an interview for The New York Times, the director told Jordan Peele has withdrawn from statements indicating the development of a sequel to noalso considering the presence of a mysterious character from the first film.
On IMDb, the artist Michael Busch is credited as Nobody in Nope, but there is no trace of his presence in the film. Jordan Peele himself said:
His story has yet to be told. I’m glad people noticed this, I think they want some answers to some of the details, and we’re not done telling this story yet.
Nobody’s character does not appear in the final cut of the film, but does make a trailer appearance, in a scene where he quietly walks around while other people flee.
Nope reunites Peele with Academy Award winner Daniel Kaluuya (Escape – Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah), along with Keke Palmer (The Girls of Wall Street, Alice) and Oscar nominee Steven Yeun (Minari, Okja) as residents of a lonely gorge of inland California witnesses a disturbing and chilling discovery.
Nope’s cast also includes Michael Wincott (Hitchcock, Westworld) and Brandon Perea (The OA, American Insurrection). The film is written and directed by Jordan Peele and produced by Ian Cooper (Noi, Candyman) and Jordan Peele for Monkeypaw Productions.
