A whole century American film and television reign supreme. To the extent that when a foreign series or film stood out, it was not aired in the US: Directly covered by their actors and directors.
That time has passed. Now foreign films and series are a success in the US, and many of them, including actors and directors, receive the most prestigious awards, such as the Oscar.
However, it looks like Netflix wants to revive an old habit. And the fact is that caramel is too sweet, after the global success of the Korean series El Juego del Calamar and the Spanish La Casa de Papel. What if we combine them? So we get Money theft: Korea. Korean version of La Casa de Papel. The trailer can be viewed here:
We don’t know how it would be received back in the US, but the most watched series in the history of Netflix is not Stranger Things, The Witcher, The Crown, or Cobra Kai. The most watched series is the Korean The Squid Game. And the Paper House is in third position.
So the solution seems obvious: why not take advantage of the pull of Korean sci-fi and make a South Korean version of The Paper Heist? Internationally, the series is called Money Heist, so we already have a title: Money theft: Korea.
According to Variety, the first season will consist of 12 chapters and his argument will revolve around the supposed reunification of the two Koreas after nearly 80 years of separation.
As countries prepare to print a new single currency, a genius strategist known as The Professor is gathering a group of high-profile thieves from the North and South to try and steal the new currency straight from the mint.
For the filming of the series directed by Kim Hong Sun (“The Voice”, “Black”), Netflix has gathered the best Korean actors: Yoo Ji Tae (“Oldboy”, “Healer”), Kim Yunjin (“Shiri”, “Lost”), Park Hae Soo (The Squid Game) and Jung Jeong Seo (Call, Burning).
Money Heist: Korea will premiere on June 24 exclusively on Netflix. If successful, it cannot be ruled out that we will see Money Heist: USA, etc. There is a vein for a while…
