As explained in Variety, Netflix employees since May 2021 have been addressing small groups of subscribers with an offer: The company invites them to participate in a panel and they have to give their opinions on the films and TV series being produced.
Of course, not all of the Netflix-exclusive content shown during the panels has yet aired at that point (like the new season of Black Mirror). The company’s goal is to get an early opinion sample to know if it will work before it’s released.
“At Netflix, we’re building a community of members to watch and provide feedback on upcoming movies and TV shows, and we want to know if you’re interested in being a part of it.“says the email to a small group of subscribers.
After being revealed by Variety, Netflix has confirmed that it has hosted such panels for a year with a select few. and that only happened in the united statesso our joy is in a well.
Such evidence with focus groups is common in Hollywood. and Netflix, these are common when it comes to adding new functionality or tools to the platform.
For example, last year it ran extensive testing before the release of Play Something, a shuffle feature that picks a title for someone to watch based on their history and playlists.
For customer view panels, Netflix asks its members to watch several upcoming movies and TV shows for about six months. Members fill out a survey after they finish watching each movie or TV show.to tell you what you like, what you don’t like, or how to improve it“.
Like other works, Netflix uses member feedback to make possible changes to movies and TV shows before they’re released.
Netflix requires members attending pre-release screenings to agree to privacy They sign a confidentiality agreement with the movies and TV series they watch, as always with this type of private content.
