Embracer group announced the birth ofEmbracer Games Archivea giant video game archive which aims to “archive and store as much of the video game industry as possible”. The archive, located in Karlstad, Sweden, currently contains some 50,000 titles, consoles and accessories from the past.

To date, the archive is already in the hands of a large team consisting of the aforementioned CEO David Boström, archivists, assistants, technical engineers and supply managers. The goal is to expand more and more over time with all possible retail work ever published to raise public awareness of the importance of video game culture and its promotion.

The archive’s curators also explained that they have already started a whole series of collaborations with museums, institutions and newspapers interested in video game preservation. Looking ahead, the Embracer’s body also plans to host special events and exhibitions around the world.
