Razer not only wants to be the benchmark for gaming peripherals, but also to be an important player in the future of video games, especially when that future is increasingly focused on the cloud. And he wants to do it with the Razer Edge 5G.

In that sense, the company has announced that it is working on a 5G handheld console designed for cloud gaming, although it hasn’t shared many details about its specifications.

We know a few things: their design will be very much in line with the brand identity, that the console will be 5G, that it will use the Snapdragon G3X Gen 1, and that Verizon and Qualcomm are its preferred partners. It will be compatible with 5G Ultra Wideband and will, in principle, be unveiled on October 15th at RazerCon.

Razer Edge 5G: Qualcomm chip and focused on cloud gaming

It will run on Android, of course, and offer access not only to OS-specific games, but also to cloud games available on Android, such as Microsoft’s Game Pass.

Judging by the teaser, we could also make one day out of the console’s capabilities, although these are just speculations. Looks like the Razer Edge 5G might have some sort of adaptive trigger systemsomething that is already the standard for home consoles.

Also, it seems that its design, although not fully visible, is quite similar to the Razer Kishi V2, but logically with an integrated screen. Taking into account also the capabilities of the Qualcomm chip, we could also encounter a portable console with support for 10-bit HDR and up to 144Hz. Of course, just because the chip is capable of offering this doesn’t mean the Razer Edge 5G offers those specs.
