GTA V it is not a game for pacifists. It was discovered, despite itself, by a player who tried to end the story without killing anyone. A company that lasted three years and ended in bankruptcy: “it just isn’t possible”. It is not possible to survive in the streets of Los Santos without leaving a trace of blood.
DarkViperAU is the nickname of Matthew Judge, a content creator with quite the following on YouTube and Twitch. Like millions of other people, Judge is also an avid Rockstar gaming enthusiast. For several years the boy has been engaged in a quixotic undertaking: finally GTA V as a perfect pacifist, completing each mission without spilling a drop of blood. An obsession that kept him busy for three long years. But in the end the dismissal: “it is not possible”.
Matthew Judge estimates that a minimum of 96 characters must be killed to complete GTA V – including cops, henchmen, and main opponents.
At worst, you can try to minimize the damage. And he did: after thousands of grueling attempts, the youtuber estimated that to complete GTA V you’ll need to kill a minimum of 96 characters – including cops, henchmen, and main antagonists.
Since there have been video games, there have also been record fighters and different kinds of achievements. The rules of the game are no longer enough, a large group of enthusiasts want to raise the stakes even higher and submit to challenges bordering on the masochistic. So there are people who try to play video games in less than an hour that – on paper – would last several dozen. There are those who face the bosses blindfolded and those who try to complete Dark Soul or Elden Ring without ever taking any damage. A very popular part of this genre is that of pacifist flight which basically requires games that are violent in nature to be closed in a Gandhian way, without killing the enemies.
The problem is that this is not always possible. It’s one thing not to kill anyone in Minecraft, another thing is to do it in a game where the objectives of the missions are the same as the carnage.
Matthew Judge took three years and more than 1,000 hours of gameplay to determine what – in his opinion – is the optimal solution to exit GTA V as a pacifist: besides saving 96 characters, almost obliged to be eliminated to progress and get to the titles of tail. Not bad: the first theories spoke of at least 700 dead. Now the ball goes to the other players who, if they wish, can try to finish the game with even fewer kills and snatch the record from Matthew Judge’s hands.
