Fortniteone of the most popular games today, I might be back this year on iOS after Apple itself removed the game due to App Store policy. At least that’s what Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney hinted at in a tweet posted on December 31st.

“Next Year on iOS”,” Sweeney wrote in a Twitter post that has already made it clear what news this 2023 will bring to the iPhone. The CEO of Epic Games later responded to the same tweet. with a picture from Fortnite which seems to celebrate the arrival of 2023 and which, in addition, seems to confirm that the said title will be available again on iPhone and iPad.

FortniteRecall that it was removed from the App Store in 2020 after Epic Games violated one of the rules of the app store. Specifically, this is the introduction of an additional payment gateway to Apple’s gateway to skip the 30% fee that the company requests for every in-app purchase. The video game developer decided to sue Apple for this reason, although the decision was in favor of the Cupertino firm.

However, since then, Apple has been on everyone’s lips due to its strict commission policy. The company has, in fact, even changed its rules, allowing developers with up to $1 million in annual income to they only needed to apply a 15% commission on every purchase. Now, is it possible that Fortnite return to the App Store, given the lack of an agreement with Apple?

Epic Games, to be exact Fortnite, also does not meet the requirements for using an alternative payment method in the Apple app store, such as Netflix. However, the developer firm seems to be making it clear that it will take advantage of one of the measures that will come into force this year. This is the European Digital Markets Act, which force Apple to open up its app ecosystem to third parties and therefore allow users to download apps outside of the App Store.

Developer FortniteYes indeed could release the game only for iOS in EuropeWell, in the US, for example, there is no such regulation. It’s also unclear if Epic Games has another way to do this. Fortnite be available again on the iPhone. The most appropriate would be to adopt the App Store policy and thus give Apple a 30% commission on in-app purchases.
