There was shouting and rudeness. Bottles and knives were flying. Through the windows the neighbors watched in horror what was happening and how it happened. A group of young people attacked the family.
Major Oswaldo Marín, commander of the Rafael Uribe Uribe Police, told EL TIEMPO that a group of teenagers had been hanging out at the local shuffleboard field and left a car parked near Velandia’s house.

Visibly confused by the group’s voices, 24-year-old young Juan Carlos Velandia, apparently drunk, He threw a bottle at another boy and smashed the window of a car, a gray Hyundai i10.
After the attack, the boy ran to his friends and a knife fight broke out. Being heavily hit, Velandia also tried to attack but was knocked down by the group’s daggers.
Through the window, the young man’s parents, Gladys Sepúlveda and Juan de Jesús Velandia, and one of his brothers saw what was happening and decided to help their relatives.

They tried to mediate the violent attack on Juan Carlos, but they were also attacked with knives. Gladys died here after falling down the stairs due to serious injuries she received while trying to take shelter in her home.
His son, Juan Carlos, was also killed and after he was lynched, his body was left on a platform near his home. Meanwhile, Juan de Jesús is hospitalized after suffering an open wound to the head. The other brother fled the scene as a result of the attacks.
Elder Marín also told EL TIEMPO that a group of people who killed the mother and son fled the scene. Agents who identified the vehicle after calling the police found three of the suspects at a medical center where they were apprehended.

Those arrested are Darío González García, 35, aged; Jhon Stiven Devia García, 24, and Miller García Garzón, 22. Relative teenagers are in the hands of the authorities to answer for the double murder.
