Surely this has happened to you You watch a video on Instagram that you like, but it disappears. forever once you leave the application. This problem affects not only Instagram, but also all social networks that update the feed automatically. Luckily, Meta took matters into its own hands and implemented a feature that will prevent this from happening again.

This was announced by the head of Instagram Adam Mosseri. a new feature that will allow you to access the history of the videos you have watched. This option is hidden in the “Your Activity” section of the app settings and shows all the videos you have watched, which will be very useful for millions of users.

The history of drums offers several options Filter content by date or author. For example, you can sort your video to show the oldest or newest videos. You can also choose what did you see last week or select a date range for more detailed control of the experience.

It goes without saying that this feature has a limitation: it won’t show your activity until September 24, 2025. Since this is a new feature, Instagram has started recording the videos you’ve watched over the past month. This does not mean that Reels history will be limited to 30 days, as the date range takes into account days, months and years.

How to access the history of videos you’ve seen on Instagram?

Reel history is now available on the Instagram app, you just need to follow these simple steps:

  1. Click on the circle with your photo located in the bottom menu of the application.
  2. From your profile page, select the three-line menu in the top right corner to access Settings & Actions.
  3. Under How You Use Instagram, select Your Activity.
  4. Scroll down to find the How You Use Instagram section and tap View Story.
  5. Select any option from the top menu to sort your reel history by date or author.

The new implementation is part of a strategy to increase consumption of short videos on the platform. A few weeks ago, Instagram announced a UI redesign this would give more weight to Reels and direct messages. If you’ve opened an app in the last few days, you’ve probably seen a message notifying you of changes that will be applied to the navigation bar to navigate between sections.

While these changes seem common, there is a change that may bother many: Instagram will show Reels as the main channel. This means that you will no longer see photos of people you follow, but rather random videos from recommended users. He feed based on Reels is already used in the iPad application and will soon appear on all mobile phones.

Adam Mosseri stated at the end of September that The growth of the platform is associated with short videosrecommendations and direct messages. If you’re an old-school user who likes to look at photos on your feed, you’ll have to get used to the changes since you’re no longer Instagram’s priority.
