Moscow courts have received administrative case materials under a new article on “LGBT propaganda” among minors against several Russian companies. Among them are online cinemas Start, Premier, as well as the operator Megafon. The materials caught the attention of the publication “Mediazona”*.
Companies can face a fine of one to four million rubles. The court session in the case of Premier LLC will take place on June 21, it will be held in the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow.
The Tverskoy District Court, in turn, will consider the case of MegaFon PJSC on June 29. The date of the process for Start.Ru LLC has not yet been set, the materials have been sent to the Cheryomushkinsky District Court.
MegaFon is the owner of the MegaFon TV mobile television service and co-owner of Start.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law banning LGBT propaganda, pedophilia and gender reassignment last December. Following this, the VKontakte social network began flagging materials that could potentially violate the new legislation.
