This is an effective virus that gives the operator covert control over the victim’s device, stealing contacts, SMS, online banking accounts. The Trojan can also make unauthorized payments, send spam, replace infected files, and take screenshots. Among hackers, the virus is promoted as a service and is popular.

The danger is that the malware is distributed under the guise of both popular legitimate apps and fake, often gaming or banking apps. In total, about a thousand fake apps were discovered.

Among the most common products DogeRAT impersonates are: Opera Mini browser, defunct Android VulnScan OS, a copy of the ChatGPT bot, premium versions of YouTube and Netflix.
