New research projects were agreed at the first meeting of the committee of the National Science and Technology Council of Mexico and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) from the Moscow region. Scientists from the two countries agreed to launch projects related to nuclear methods in medicine, ecology and materials science, information and quantum technologies, as well as the NICA heavy ion collider in Dubna.
JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov noted that during the five-year cooperation between Mexico and Russia, dozens of scientific articles have been published in journals.
Previously, JINR scientists conducted an experiment using the NICA collider, where cosmic radiation conditions were created to test the safety of new materials for astronaut cabins on the International Space Station (ISS). The experiment lasted several days and involved employees of the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
