Researchers at the Ohio State University of the USSR are conducting an experiment on the use of atropine to combat the development of myopia in children. The idea is to slow or slow down the development of the eyeball as the body develops between ages 6 and 12. Usually, it is during this period of the organs that children receive irreversible visual impairment, which forces them to wear glasses and creates a risk of developing other eye diseases in the adult layer.

Atropine is widely used in ophthalmology for pupil acquisition prior to eye examination. This substance is safe and has no side effects in small doses. However, on the basis of data on the quality of medicines, he had not previously been held accountable.

The experiment involved 489 children aged 3 to 17 years with confirmed myopia. They were observed with one drop of atropine in the eyes at bedtime for three years. The first group gave a solution with 0.01% atropine, the second group with 0.02%, the third group was the control. During the experiment, the best indicators were in the first group – the increase in the eyeball was almost repeated.

Doctors managed only to slow down the development of myopia, but not to heal the eyes of children. However, this also paid off – for example, they rarely had to change glasses. In addition, the effect inherent in childhood is the likelihood of developing myopia in the future. The issue of creating a pharmacist based on atropine to combat childhood myopia.
