Researchers from Astrakhan State Medical University developed and patented an anti-inflammatory drug based on angustifolia extract (Elaeagnus angustifolia).
Almost all plant-based anti-inflammatory drugs in use today have their drawbacks – sometimes they cause allergies, sometimes they only affect certain organs.
Russian scientists, using steam distillation using a 40-degree water-alcohol solution, isolated an extract from the leaves and berries of the sucker, which does not irritate the stomach and does not cause an allergic reaction.
The substance was tested on male rats injected with an inflammatory agent into their hind legs and divided into two equal groups. Some were given the essence, some were not. After a few days, edema decreased in rats in the first group. In addition, their tests turned out much better than those who did not receive treatment.
The researchers plan to test the drug in humans.
