VK began testing biometric authorization without a password

VK has started testing OnePass, a biometric authorization system without entering a password. The company announced it on its website.

OnePass uses access keys that work in accordance with the WebAuthn authorization standard. Using the system, you can log in to your account via Touch ID or Face ID, by fingerprint or facial image.

VK emphasized that authorization data is processed on the user’s device and is not transmitted to the services.

“In the future, users will also be able to log in with Face ID, Touch ID and other similar authorization methods to more than 66,000 services from our partners,” said Ivan Smirnov, director of VK’s ecosystem services department.

OnePass is being tested on a part of VKontakte users, the full release is scheduled for summer 2023.
