Russians face annoying calls and SMS messages from spammers and scammers every day. Some have to deal with them several times a day. Telecom Daily CEO Denis Kuskov talked about whether it is possible to get rid of annoying spammers.

First, it’s worth understanding that it’s nearly impossible to completely remove yourself from all databases. It is not known how many sources there are, which are public or confidential, and where interested parties got the number of a particular person. You leave some contacts yourself, for example, when buying loyalty cards or on social networks. However, all this can be easily removed if you wish.

More questions arise if you need to leave a phone number in some organizations. For example, the number of a future spam victim may be in banks’ databases and credit histories. These databases are sold everywhere, including hidden websites, and you will not be able to delete your data from there.

As a temporary solution to annoying spam calls, you can change your phone number to a new one. Your number will be missing from their database for a while. However, if you received a number that was previously used by someone else, after a while your number will again be in the spammers’ databases.

All we can do is try not to leave your number everywhere if possible. If you want to use advertising, it is better to buy an additional SIM card for it, without flashing the main number. But the expert concludes that it is impossible to completely protect yourself from spam, since advertisers and scammers are always active.
