WhatsApp started rolling out the option to create an avatar in the messaging app today (21). With the innovation, the user can create a digital representation for use in the app, as in Messenger and Instagram.
The creation of avatars has been released in the beta version of WhatsApp, starting with versions 2.22.23.8 and 2.22.23.9 of the app. The solution is widely available to users of the trial version, even coming to Brazil.]
If you are one of the users selected to test the innovation, the option to create a new avatar will appear as a large notification on the main screen of the application. A digital version of the user can also be created in the settings menu, under the “Avatar” option just below the account preferences.
Stickers and profile picture
As with Instagram, avatar configuration includes the ability to customize various aspects of the figure, including appearance and clothing. Once created, WhatsApp also generates a sticker pack based on the digital representation of the user that can be used in messages.
The avatar sticker pack contains various reactions in a style reminiscent of Bitmojis. In addition to offering this type of interaction in messages, the avatar can also be used by the user as a profile picture.
Although the distribution of avatars is still limited to WhatsApp beta users, a wide rollout of the innovation has not yet been released by Meta. But Mark Zuckerberg’s company has big plans for avatars, including using them for video calls on WhatsApp and Messenger.
