Apples are not only healthy fruits, but they can also be harmful to health. Doctor Svetlana Kuprina from the INVITRO-Voronezh laboratory warns that apple seeds contain a substance that can turn into poisonous cyanide. If you eat a lot of apples, there may be problems with digestion and an imbalance of microflora. Also, apples, especially those brought from afar, can contain high amounts of pesticides. It is recommended to buy locally produced apples to avoid problems.

There is also danger from damaged or rotten apples. They can cause intestinal infections and the growth of fungi that produce the dangerous toxin patulin. The doctor warns of penicillium rot, the most dangerous form of damage that apples can contain, the carcinogenic toxin patulin. However, if you cut off the affected part of the apple and use the undamaged part, it will be safe for consumption.

The doctor also draws attention to contraindications to the use of apples. Allergy to apples, as well as exacerbation of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, such as gastritis, colitis and peptic ulcer, are reasons to avoid eating apples. People with high glucose levels or diabetes are not recommended to choose red and yellow apple varieties because of their high glycemic index.

As a result, the doctor states that apples are healthy fruits due to their rich composition of vitamins, minerals, fruit acids and fiber. However, it is important to observe the measure and monitor the quality of the apple in order to avoid negative consequences.
