Uber and Amazonas Public Safety Secretariat (SSP-AM) signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement this Tuesday (13). With the agreement, In case of emergency, information will be transmitted to the Integrated Security Operations Center (Ciops) in real time..

This is the first of its kind in the Northern region. The “Call Police” button of the app will be integrated into Ciops. The body brings together all institutions responding to emergencies through 190.

According to the provincial public safety secretary, General Carlos Alberto Mansur, the emergency officer will receive all travel data. With geolocation, the caller does not need to verbally explain this information.

The partnership was scheduled since 2022. For Uber, sharing this data with authorities in an emergency saves precious seconds during the event. Thus, it is one way the company’s technology helps security forces.

Ciops will also know the license plate, make, model and color of the vehicle, driver and user names and phone numbers. The agency receives the information through RapidSOS technology, which connects critical data to the local emergency service. The vehicle is already in use in Rio de Janeiro and Maranhão.

Uber plans to expand integration across Brazil by signing agreements with authorities in each state. The service currently operates in more than 1,200 cities across the United States and various states and provinces in Mexico, South Africa, and Canada.
