Ekaterina Kashukh, an expert at the Gemotest laboratory, said that in hot weather, it is recommended that a person increase their water consumption to 70-80 milliliters per kilogram. With physical exertion, this figure should be brought to 100 milliliters per kilogram.

The gastroenterologist reminded that according to the classical formula of the daily need for water per kilogram of body weight, it should be 30-40 milliliters of fluid. At the same time, it is not worth drinking the prescribed liters by force – in the absence of a feeling of thirst and signs of lack of fluid, Kashukh stressed: first of all, you need to focus on well-being and desire.

In addition to water, you can drink mineral water and isotonic in the heat – the doctor said that they help replenish the minerals that a person loses with sweat. In addition, freshly squeezed juices diluted with water, homemade compotes, fruit drinks, lemonades, green tea are suitable for quenching your thirst.

When a person loses 2% of his fluid, he feels thirsty and dehydration begins with 5% fluid loss. The expert said that the main symptoms of this condition are dry mouth and lack of saliva, dark yellow urine, pallor, weakness and deterioration of health status.
