SpotifyHiFi It could arrive later this 2023 after several years of delay. In accordance with bloombergthe company plans to launch new monthly plan “Superpremium” which will cost more than the current individual subscription of 9.99 euros per month and will include, as a main advantage, the ability to listen to music without loss of quality.

As a reminder, Spotify HiFi was first announced in 2021. The company said its goal is to launch higher plan than current Premium for those who want to enjoy music without loss, and to come to this later. Apple, however, got ahead of Spotify by releasing this very feature, including spatial audio and Dolby Atmos, without any additional subscription.

Since then, the Swedish firm has consistently delayed the release of its HiFi version. First, allegedly problems with the license. Subsequently, stating that changes in the industry – and most likely referring to the advent of Apple Music HiFi – caused the aforementioned plan to be delayed. In fact, Gustav Söderström, co-chairman of Spotify, stressed a few months ago that they planned how to make Spotify HiFi “make sense”, both for listeners and for Spotify itself. “The industry has changed and we have had to adapt,” he stressed.

Spotify HiFi could arrive with a plan twice as expensive as the current one

It is strange, however, that Spotify is finally deciding to launch HiFi at a higher than individual plan, since Apple, we repeat, offers almost the same without additional subscription. Although the price is unknown, previous leaks have suggested that Spotify is working on a new “platinum” mode, twice as expensive as the premium one we know so far. Namely 19.99 euros per month.

This is no doubt an exorbitant price to pay for a feature that very few will be able to enjoy, since you need compatible headphones to listen to studio-quality songs. However, co-chairman of Spotify made it clear that the intention of the company was to monetize this version. He elaborated that the company is also working on making it work “in terms of cost.”

In any case, this plan, now known as “Super Premium”, will include other benefits compared to Premium. These include the ability to access audiobooks, the ability to listen, or the ability to listen to podcasts without ads. We must also take into account that the price may change after the plan is announced.
