The Internet Initiatives Development Fund (IIDF) filed a lawsuit against the founder and former owner of the Rumberi service, Mikhail Khaikin, is suspected of cheating, RBC reports, citing a representative of the fund.

IIDF filed a lawsuit against the head of the Rumberi housing search service, owned by Avito

The FRII investment company, FRII Invest, filed a lawsuit against Khaikin to invalidate the sale of 7% of the company to him for 1.5 million rubles. The Arbitration Court of the Tula Region registered the lawsuit on June 19.

Rumberi LLC was registered in 2015 in Tula. In 2018, IIDF Invest entered the capital of the company and received 4%, and in 2019 it increased its participation to 7%. The rest of the company was owned by the top managers. Mikhail Khaikin owned 40.78%.

According to the IIDF representative, in June 2022, Khaikin sent them a letter stating that due to the current economic situation, Rumberi plans to end its activities by the end of 2022. Among the reasons, he indicated, for example, that in The company’s contract with the main counterparty, which accounted for about 80-85% of all revenue, was due to expire in November, and there was no information on the extension of the contract at that time. .

Following this letter, in August 2022, the fund decided to “sell its 7% stake in Rumberi for 1.5 million rubles, although in 2018 it bought it for 2.5 million rubles.”

Subsequently, the Unified State Register of Legal Entities showed that Khaikin sold 60.48% of Rumberi LLC to Kekh Ekommerts, Avito’s main legal entity. In February 2023, it became known that Avito bought 100% of Rumberi from Khaikin and his partner Valentin Bochkov (39.52%).

IIDF also discovered that in January 2020, Khaikin established another legal entity in Moscow under the name Rumberi. The representative of the fund believes that part of the business processes were transferred to this company, and if that did not happen, the income of Tula -the main- legal entity could double.

The IIDF did not rule out that it was “a multi-stage preparation for the withdrawal of IIDF Invest from the founders with minimal costs on the part of the founder.” The fund will file a fraud application with the Home Office in the near future.
