Tryptophan in interstellar space, Academician TT Berezov PFUR Vadim Pokrovsky.

Experts note that such compounds are occasionally found in space. According to Pokrovsky, the amino acid was launched into space as a result of a catastrophe on an exoplanet.

The biochemist emphasizes that tryptophan alone, as an amino acid, does not give rise to life, for which at least sets of amino acids are necessary.

Earlier, Spanish astronomers reported using the Spitzer space telescope to discover traces of tryptophan in the interstellar gas of the young star cluster IC 348, a thousand light-years from Earth.
