Pedant.ru, a network for repairing smartphones and laptops, has launched a service for renting used smartphones on a subscription basis, a company representative told RB.RU.

The Pedant service center network has launched a subscription to rent used smartphones

The founder of Pedant.ru, Roman Persiyanov, noted that “in Russia only new smartphones are rented, and, as a rule, for a short period of time to test the flagship before buying it.” The company also wants to “simplify user access to technology” and become a leader in the used equipment rental market under the subscription model in Russia.

Buyers can borrow the device for a period of three months to two years. The cost of the subscription is discounted monthly, and after making the 12th payment, the device can be exchanged.

According to Pedant.ru, the benefit of renting a used smartphone is 30% compared to buying it. So, for 12 months of rental, the user will pay about 72% of the cost of the device.

Rent a used gadget using the iPhone 12 Pro Max 128 GB as an example:

  • Month – 4280 rubles, year – 51 360 rubles
  • Cost at the moment – 68,700 rubles

For example: the cost of a monthly rental of a new device of the same model on Svyaznoy will be 15,400 rubles.

Now more than 1500 devices are available to users, each of which has been tested on Pedant.ru for 52 parameters. At the first stage, users can rent smartphones from Apple, in the near future the variety will be replenished with devices of other brands, as well as Apple wearables: Apple Watch, iPad and MacBook.

Among the main players, MTS and Svyaznoy have a rental service for new smartphones.

Pedant.ru is a network of service centers for the repair of smartphones and laptops. The network has more than 500 service centers in 122 cities.
