The purpose of this measure is to provide parents with an effective way to reduce their children’s exposure to inappropriate or offensive content, thereby increasing online safety. This update follows a number of improvements previously implemented by TikTok regarding screen time control, default settings for teen accounts, and additional parental control features in “Family Match”.
The app now automatically sets daily screen time for teens to 60 minutes, promoting healthy use of the platform. Once this limit is reached, a password is required to continue browsing so that teens have a balanced experience.
The results so far are encouraging, nearly three-quarters of teens choose to stick to the screen time limit set by TikTok.
