There are six models in the current Apple iPad tablet lineup. These are the iPad 9, 10, Air, Mini and Pro (11 and 12.9). Below you can find more information about the features of these devices.
In terms of speed, all models except the iPad 9 feel more or less the same. And in most applications, the oldest model shows itself well. The only thing that sets it apart from the others is the 60 Hz screen refresh rate against 120 Hz for the Pro.
It is quite predictable that the iPad Pro 11 and 12.9 performed the best in the tests, and the iPad 9 performed the worst. iPad 10 and Mini are very close in performance. At the same time, oddly enough, the iPad 9 is sometimes better than modern Android tablets. The 9th version is ideal for games (if you are an unpretentious user), as a reader, as a tablet for watching movies.
In addition, the iPad 10 will perform all tasks perfectly, this version even has a magnetic keyboard. You can even edit video with this tablet and the power is enough even for 4K. Also this tablet supports stylus. True, you will not be able to work with programs designed for LiDAR in Final Cut, Logic Pro.
Tablets also differ from each other in terms of screens. Versions on iPad 9 and 10 support the first generation stylus, iPad Mini 6 and Air 5 already use an air gap IPS display. Therefore, these screens are less bright. The iPad Pro 11 has a display with a 120Hz refresh rate, so these tablets feel as smooth as possible. The iPad Pro 12.9 has the brightest display ever.
The strangest and most controversial tablet is the 2022 iPad Air. It is more expensive than the iPad 10 but offers almost the same features. Is it because it’s a little thinner and has a more powerful M1 processor? Take a closer look at the iPad Air 4 (2020) instead of the iPad Air 5.
In terms of autonomy with standard use of the tablet, the iPad Pro 12.9 and iPad Air 5 show the worst, the iPad 9 and 10 were better than the others.
iPad Mini 6 Gen is suitable for those who love compact devices. It is also the only tablet that cannot be connected to an external keyboard.
You can take the iPad 11 Pro with you to work in Logic Pro or Final Cut. Also pro versions have more RAM: 8 or 16 GB. And there are 128, 256 GB and 1.2 TB options from the fixed.
Microphones are also best in the Pro versions. Worse still, the audio is of course recorded by the iPad 9. The same goes for speakers.

If you have enough 64GB of permanent memory, the iPad 10 is the best choice, it’s powerful, it has good speakers and a modern design. But it is better not to buy the current iPad Air on the M1, as you will not get anything particularly new compared to the 10th version of the tablet.
In addition, one of the best options, if you buy it for enough money, can be called the iPad Air 4: it has a better screen, is thinner in itself, and also supports a second-generation pen with magnetic charging.
It’s also best not to buy the iPad Pro 12.9: it’s too expensive and too big. Better to buy a Macbook, iPad Mini instead. But the mini version is suitable only for those who love everything compact.
If it’s your first time buying a tablet and you’ve never used it before, start with an iPad 10 or even an iPad 9.
