The streaming company came up with a method it called Magenta Green Screen (MGS). The actors are filmed against bright green LEDs and are front-lit with reds and blues that together create a magenta glow.
In reality, the light used is a pure mixture of blue and red. It looks completely unnatural to the human eye, but cameras see reality by splitting it up into red, green, and blue color channels, so shooting all objects with a purple tint on a green background results in the green channel looming clearly on objects in the background.
