Doctor Olga Glushko from the Semeynaya clinic network told how to distinguish food poisoning from rotavirus infection, especially in the summer, when they often occur. Food poisoning occurs when dangerous bacteria or toxic substances from food enter the body. The main symptoms are nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, which are common in anyone who consumes contaminated food and can occur within a few hours of eating.

In contrast, rotavirus infection is caused by a virus and develops gradually with an incubation period of two to five days. It can be transmitted through food, contaminated water or airborne droplets. The main symptoms are high fever, frequent vomiting, large watery stools, abdominal pain and loss of appetite.

Glushko emphasizes that if you suspect a poisoning or rotavirus infection, especially in children or the elderly, you should seek professional help immediately. Immediate intervention and appropriate treatment will help prevent complications and cope with the problem faster.
