According to Murakhovsky, when the T-72 tanks are upgraded to the T-72B3M, they will receive the rear modules of the already familiar Relikt dynamic protection. The concept of protection, in which only the frontal armor was covered, was considered outdated and ineffective in a special operation.

It is not enough to cover the forehead, the side and stern protrusions must also be protected. The enhanced protection of the T-72B3M lies precisely in protecting its stern. Previously, the stern overhangs were protected only by lattice screens.

At the same time, the protection of tanks in the conditions of the Northern Military District was gradually strengthened. First, Russian tanks received lattice screens to protect the turret roof, then the tanks were protected by extended side screens with dynamic protection, then the vehicles received additional dynamic protection units on the turret. After installing the debris protection at the stern, the tanks were covered from almost all angles.
