Now, information has emerged that the consequences of this hack could be much more serious than originally thought. This was stated by the cybersecurity experts at Wiz.
Crackers gained access to encryption keys for Microsoft Exchange email exchanges. They used these keys to access the Outlook Web Access and Outlook.com mail services.
However, research by Wiz showed that the compromised key could be used to access various services that use Azure Active Directory for “Sign-in with Microsoft” authentication.
This means that millions of users who use the “Sign in with Microsoft” feature to sign in to their accounts could be at risk.
Wiz calls this a “major blow to the reliability of cloud services and the core components that support them.”
