The fight between Telegram and WhatsApp often ends up with the latter on the losing side, at least in terms of features. However, it seems that the first one decided to take for the first time what his opponent had already had for a long time. Now the company itself from its account Twitter, confirms the emergence of Stories in the most versatile instant messaging app.

Of course, if you want to upload your first Telegram Story, first you will need to subscribe to the app’s premium service. As they comment in the aforementioned tweet, only those users will be able to use this feature. However, the use of the word “currently” in the announcement suggests that it may soon be available to everyone.

Who can see Telegram Stories? The company confirmed that all your users will be able to view, reply and react to the messages of their contacts. However, if you want a button to post your own photos and videos, you’ll have to subscribe to the Premium service. The latter costs €4.49 per month, although you can get it even cheaper if you do it from a company-programmed bot.

New features that come with Telegram Stories

Telegram stories remind us of a lot of what we’ve already seen in Facebook Messenger. These bubbles will appear at the top of the conversation screen. Also, just like the Meta version, you can also choose who from your contact list can see them or not, and even create a list of best friends. Finally, just like with BeReal, you can upload photos and videos showing what your rear and front cameras see at the same time.

If you don’t want to see the stories of a particular contact, Telegram allows you to hide them indefinitely. You just need to touch and move it to the “Hidden” tab. Finally, unlike WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, here you can choose the length of your posts. That is, you can make them disappear into 24 hoursas usual, but 6, 12 or 48 hours. If, on the other hand, you never want them to disappear, you can highlight them on your profile so everyone can see them when they log in.

Telegram Stories have already begun their rollout. Keep in mind that these features may take a few weeks to arrive. Nevertheless, make sure your app is updated to the latest version to be one of the first to get it.
