The passwords of 60% of Russian users can be cracked in a minute, according to a study by the RTM Group. Most of the time, these passwords consist of numbers and are determined by the enumeration of the machine. The strongest password combinations are used by only 5% of users, and these are employees of large companies.
More than half of the passwords of Russian users consist only of numbers or numbers and lowercase letters and are cracked in less than a minute. This is confirmed by a study by the consultancy RTM Group.
The experts specified that the “easy” passwords used by most Russians are cracked by scammers using automatic enumeration.
“Users use the least complex passwords for personal accounts, and small businesses also use simple combinations,” the study says.
The most secure password combinations containing symbols (currency signs, percentages, parentheses) and consisting of 12 characters are used by only 5% of users, and most of them are employees of large companies. The use of “hard” passwords is affected by the security policies of these companies, and such passwords can take several years to crack.
