As a result of the analysis, several possible diseases were identified from which the legendary ruler of Wallachia suffered.

One of his diseases caused tears to mingle with the blood in the ducts. This syndrome, in which the blood and the fluid in the lacrimal glands mix, is called hemolacriy and leads to the formation of bloody tears.

Vlad III Basarab, also known as Dracula (“Son of the Dragon”) and Tepes (“The Propeller”), was the ruler of Wallachia in the 15th century.

He was known for his harsh politics and numerous executions. In modern culture, his image is associated with a vampire, thanks to Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula.
