Major mayonnaise producers are going to index prices by 5-12% due to an increase in the price of ingredients, Kommersant writes with reference to a letter that Essen Production AG (Maheev brand) sent to retailers. Last week, coffee farmers sent a similar notice to retail chains.
Starting August 21, the cost of mayonnaise and some other sauces will increase by 5-10%. Indexing by 8-10% will also affect the restaurant market, including sauces in 10-gram portions.
In addition to Essen Production AG, the Efko Group of Companies (Sloboda) sent a 10% price increase to the chains. NMGK (Ryaba, Astoria) plans to increase by 12%.
According to Sovecon, the average price of sunflower oil in the first days of August increased by 2.85 thousand rubles and amounted to 79.02 thousand rubles per ton, including VAT. Export quotations rose $30 to $940 per ton (FOB).
It is this component that accounts for up to 60% of the cost of mayonnaise, according to the analysis agency OleoScope. The egg and packaging represent only 20-25% of the price.
At the same time, Andrey Sizov, director of Sovecon, admits that the increase in prices may be due not to an increase in the price of sunflower oil, but, first of all, to an increase in the cost of packaging and other materials. of production. . Their prices, in turn, depend on the exchange rate and logistics.
Dmitry Rylko, Director General of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies, agrees with him.
At the same time, as noted in the Rusagro report, around 2022, there was an increase in producer prices for the main categories of consumer products for oils and fats. The reason given is the acceleration of inflation.
According to the source of the market publication, inflation will continue to be the main problem for market participants and regulators in the coming months. It admits a repeat of the situation in 2014, when the cost of products increased at double-digit rates.
Until August 11, the Ministry of Agriculture did not respond to Kommersant’s request.
Last week, the publication reported on a similar letter to retailers from tea and coffee growers. They notified the chains of a 4-9% increase in the selling prices of their products.
