However, SanDisk has decided to sell these discs instead of recalling the troubled batches. The issue affected the SanDisk Extreme Pro, Extreme Portable, Extreme Pro Portable, and WD MyPassport SSD models.

Therefore, our colleague at The Verge lost 3TB of video data due to the disk becoming inoperable. And it wasn’t an old drive, the original drive was also a spare drive provided by Western Digital after it had erased all the data by itself.

SanDisk released a firmware fix for various drivers at the end of May, but the issue does not appear to have been completely resolved.

The most surprising thing about this situation is that despite all the problems, the discs are still on sale at 66% off on Amazon. Additionally, many of the reviews on the site appear to have been created with the intent to “upgrade” the product’s rating, which raises more questions about the honesty of the reviews.
