The Kekh Armenia company, associated with Russia’s Avito, has tied the salaries of its employees, paid in drams, to the ruble exchange rate. The corresponding order of the company was studied by Vedomosti. Avito said he would not comment on “any documents.”
The order was signed by the director of “KEH Armenia” Denis Anisimov. The publication found hints on his LinkedIn account that Anisimov is Avito’s deputy chief financial officer.
The document instructs to change “the size and method of determining the base salary of the company’s employees.” In particular, the indexing mechanism is changing, it is determined “depending on the exchange rate of the Armenian dram against the Russian ruble, acting on the foreign exchange market, published on the official website of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia one working day. prior to the payment of the base salary.
From the text it follows that the contract will be terminated with employees who do not agree with the new rules. The measures taken are explained in the document by the fact that the income of KEX Armenia is formed in Russian rubles, therefore, without tying salaries to the Russian currency – the ruble – “the company incurs significant losses.”
As a result of the changes, CNews found, employee wages will drop. In August 2022, 1 dram cost 0.15 rubles, in August 2023 the dram exchange rate is 0.25 rubles.
Avito told Vedomosti that decisions are made based on business logic and common sense. They declined to comment on any documents. When asked if KEX Armenia is the legal entity of Avito, they answered that they have a co-working space and a legal entity in Armenia.
